P90X Review: Day 7 - Stretch X

P90X Workout: Day 7

Today was Day 7 of my workout, which was either rest or Stretch X. I decided to pop in the video and press play. I would really like to get more flexible and there’s no harm in a good stretch! Nothing real crazy here - just a solid hour of stretching. You work from the neck - all the way down. I felt great after the hour and will most likely be doing this video ever day designated for rest.

P90X Review: Day 6 - Kenpo X

P90X Workout: Day 6

Today was Kenpo X day of the P90X workout program. This workout was pretty enjoyable. I mixed things up a little today - It was also my extra cardio day, so I ran my 3-miles then did Kenpo X. I was drenched from running before even doing the workout, and kept up a good sweat throughout the video. It’s full of punches, kicks and combinations of both. Getting these combinations down is a little tough at first, but are real fun once you get the hang of it. I love the feeling of having a great workout, and trust me, today was one of those days. Kenpo X gets the heart pumping and makes the cardio real fun.

P90X Review: Day 5 - Legs/Back/Abs

P90X Workout: Day 5

This morning was Legs & Back, as well as another Ab Ripper X workout. When I was regularly working out, I hated legs day. Not that I hated the exercises, but that “jelly leg” feeling always got to me. Well, the P90X Leg Workout definitely brings the “jelly legs”. The one legged wall squats have to be an exercise from another planet. I’m convinced Tony put that exercise in there just to kill you. Also, the calf exercises are no joke either. While I hate legs exercises, I love working calves. Funny, I know. I like combining legs with back too. It involved a lot of time with the chin up bar, and as I mentioned earlier, beating that chin up bar is one of my personal goals.

P90X Review: Day 4 - Yoga

P90X Workout: Day 4

Today’s P90X workout was Yoga. I’m not the most flexible person in the world, so I was looking forward to this morning. I soon realized that Yoga is no joke! I sweat as much as any other day and had a good burn throughout the exercises. I can see myself really enjoying this workout once I get an understanding of the moments and I am not looking at the television to check my form all the time.

P90X Review: Day 3 - Shoulders & Tris

P90X Workout: Day 3

This morning was Shoulders/Tris/Ab Ripper X. I decided to try Ab Ripper X first. This would give me fresh energy to perform the exercises. I warmed up a little first and then got into the ab exercises. Starting out with abs helped, but I still struggled with the amount of reps. The Shoulder and Triceps workout was also very intense. I have two strength of bands and a set of 25lb dumbbells. I am beginning to think I need to grab some adjustable dumbbells. These would allow me to have the different levels of resistance for the different exercises.

P90X Review: Day 2 - Death By Plyos

P90X Workout: Day 2

Day 2 was intense. The workout part of the day involved Plyos, or plyometric training. Now, when I was playing basketball everyday we would have to perform plyos a lot in practices. I honestly can say that I did pretty well with them. We would do lunges, box jumps, lateral foot slides, floor crawls - and for the most part I could hang. Well, the little voice in my head must have been stuck back in those days because it was saying, “Plyos? Pfft. We can do those!” About 20 minutes into the workout I didn’t hear a single peep out of that little voice. This workout was killer. Sometimes I don’t know what is worse - putting that video in for the very first time and going into it blind, or knowing next Tuesday I am going to have to do plyos all over again. Needless to say, it had me drenched in sweat and my heart rate was pretty high - overall a great workout.

P90X Review: Day 1 - The Struggle

So after successfully performed the P90X Fit Test and taking my Body Measurements, Monday was here - Day 1 of the P90X workout.

I have decided to write about my workouts the day after I go through them. This may change, but my thinking is that I can give you a full days report. I can not only tell you how the workout went, but also how my nutrition went - as well as how sore I woke up.
