Why P90X?
What I Have Become
I’ve decided to change my life. I am tired of being out of shape, depressed, unhappy, and not feeling like I should. I used to be in shape. I once was an “athlete”, who couldn’t go a few days without an intense workout or a good run. I hate looking at myself as an ex-athlete. It’s time for me to stop being lazy. It’s time to stop destroying my body by eating poorly. It’s time for me to get in the best shape of my life.
I am 35 years old, married to an amazing woman, and the father of two adorable children. I work a desk job and spend most of the day sitting on my ass in front of a computer. With most jobs, comes stress - and stress is a big contributor to my physical situation. I have transfered the lazy nature of my job into other areas of my life. I make lazy choices with the food I eat, the frequency with which I exercise has become sporadic, and the thought I have put towards my health has been missing.
For some time now, my kids have referred to me as fat, or said “Daddy’s got a big belly”. Has it hurt? Of course, but laziness had a good hold of me and I did nothing about it. The other day my son (who is wise beyond his years) said to me, “I want you to exercise, I don’t want you to be fat anymore. I want you to be strong.” That’s when it all hit home.
It’s time to do the right thing. I have the opportunity to teach my son a few valuable lessons. I can show him what dedication is. I can show him what hard work is. I can show him how much I love him. I can show him how much he means to me. I can show him self-respect. As important as it is for me to make this change for my health, its also as important that I teach my son these valuable lessons. I want him to grow up with an active dad, not a lazy, out of shape one.
So Why P90X Extreme Home Fitness
We’ve all seen Tony Horton’s commercials. We all know what they are about. Since I have seen them years ago, a quote of his has always stuck with me. Decide.Commit.Succeed. I’ve always loved that quote, and even used it in other aspects of my life. Not until now has it meant something to my health. I’ve decided - I am committed - and I will succeed.
As far as the workout goes, I am a big fan of the P90X “muscle confusion” theory. When I was dedicated and worked out in the past, plateauing would always cause problems for me. I would reach levels of my workout where I would seem to be at a stand still. I like the idea of constantly introducing your muscles with new moves and routines; never letting your body reach a plateau.
What I Will Become
I have decided to dedicate myself 100% to getting in the best shape of my life. While the P90X program is set for 90 days, it has different levels and I plan on extending myself past 90 days. It will become a lifestyle change for me. It will teach me how to eat, how to work out more intelligently, and how to constantly “Bring It”. I am starting the training on July 14, 2008 and I have set a goal of January 1, 2009 as the day I will be in the best shape of my life.
I will be using this P90X review as a place to keep me on track - a diary of sorts. I will track my workouts, my meals, my struggles and my accomplishments. I hope this site will not only help me, but will help others as well. It will be a place to keep me motivated, and possibly motivate others. I have a Contact Me page here, feel free to write me if you have a question, or just post a comment in any of my posts.
